Sketchbook
Sometimes, the most lovely little works an artist can create are the ones never meant to be seen - the sketches, the fleeting of a thought or feeling made visual with the flick of a pencil across paper. They are practice and compulsions to make, not made to sell to anyone or last forever. Sometimes, they are never even meant to be completed.
But these little arts tell the story of the artist, a journey cross-hatched in the margins of math books in middle school and doodled on a napkin at lunch. They are, often times, what matters most. The bones! I thought I’d include some of mine here, so you can see where I have been, how I think, and how I get it all down before I bring it to life.
